Cherry Venture
The ship wreck of the Cherry Venture was not actually located on Fraser Island, but down the coast a bit at Teewah Beach, still within Great Sandy National Park north of Noosa. The Cherry Venture was a huge 1600 ton cargo ship from Singapore that ran aground during a severe storm in 1973. It remained a big drawcard for the area and a popular tourist attraction of the trip between Noosa and Fraser Island, but was ravaged by the salt and sand and rusted severely. In 2007 it was removed due to public safety concerns, and replaced by an information station.
