Further along the ocean walkthrough you’ll come to some of the most colourful fish you’ve ever seen. This tropical paradise his home to the likes of Napoleon Wrasse and the much loved Spots and Stripes Puffer. There are even touchscreens available where you can find out what these tropical fish enjoy eating and some truly unique features you probably didn’t know.
Bay of Rays
A collection of rays will glide overhead in the Bay of Rays, showing you their happy smiles. See if you can spot the difference between spotty leopard rays, crownose rays and sting rays.
The Turtle Temple is home to a number of rehabilitated turtles who are building up their strength before their release back into the ocean. Many of these peaceful creatures have unfortunately been injured as a result of human related impacts, such as boat strikes, entanglements in fishing equipment and eating rubbish.
Billabong is an Australian word for a waterhole, many of which are home to an amazing array of plant, fish and animal life. Underwater World’s Billabongs are home to over 20 species including snails, saw fish, Barramundi, tree frogs, Parana and Pacu fish.
Here you’ll find everything freshwater just waiting for you to explore. Say hello to giant barramundi and even the Freshwater Crocodile affectionately named Marge.
This would have to be one of the cutest exhibits at the park. Home to cheeky little Mayhem, Kaos and Lou, Otter Creek is where you’ll get to see these small clawed otters interact, play, clean their food, and maybe even do their little ‘poo dance’ for you. They also love to pose for photos.
Make sure you stop by to enjoy the seal presentation, a favourite for the whole family. The park’s resident seals include Australian Sea Lions, Australian Fur Seals and New Zealand Fur Seals, all swimming around and putting on a cheeky show for you. You can even come and say hello at the end of the presentation and have your photo taken with your new friends.
Underwater World is home to the largest collection of jellyfish anywhere in Australia. These fascinating, colourful creatures have haunted the oceans with their ghost like movements for over 650 million years. Come along and learn more about these marine animals that are older than the dinosaurs.
Crawling and scrambling all over the enclosure, these Giant King Crabs and Painted Crayfish are some of the ocean’s largest marine crustaceans. Bring your camera for some happy snaps in the pop up tanks.
