The Sunshine Coast Aero Club is a social flying club located at the Sunshine Coast Airport (YBSU formally Maroochydore Airport). We are situated north of the Maroochy River central to the beautiful Sunshine Coast beaches and only one hour north of Brisbane. The club caters to both general aviation and recreational aviation.
General Aviation Pilots
As a Flying Member, you will be entitled to club rates to fly a selection of GA aircraft from the convenience of Class ‘D’ airspace. As a Social Member, you will be welcome to our regular social evenings in our licensed clubhouse.
Recreational Aviation Student Pilots
Because of the controlled airspace at the Sunshine Coast Airport, the club is privileged to have a CASA exemption to allow RA Aus training flights from the airport. We are currently in the process of re- establishing our flight training facility for the RA-AUS Pilot Certificate. As it has in the past, this will provide a distinct advantage (both cost and experience wise) for a potential pilot to begin their flying career at Sunshine Coast Aero Club as RA Aus pilots or students are normally not permitted to fly in controlled airspace.
