Baroon Pocket Dam near Maleny
Baroon Pocket Dam, also known as Lake Baroon, is a man made dam constructed in 1988 over Obi Obi Creek near Montville in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. As well as having recreational uses, it's also utilized as the main water supply for the Maroochydore and Caloundra area. There is a single boat ramp, although petrol-powered vessels are not permitted. Fishing is very popular as the dam is stocked with bass, Mary River cod, golden perch and silver perch, white eel-tailed catfish and spangled perch - however a council permit must be obtained to fish in the dam.
